Common Questions
Planning a Memorial
When should we start planning a memorial?
There's no wrong time to start planning. Some families choose a memorial in advance as a gift to their loved ones, while others begin after a loss. Both approaches have advantages. Planning ahead allows for careful consideration without time pressure, while planning after a loss can provide a meaningful way to channel grief. We're here to support you either way.
How much does a memorial cost?
Memorial costs vary based on size, material, design complexity, and lettering. Our basic granite markers start around $1,800, while custom monuments can range from $2,500 to $8,000 or more. Bronze memorials typically start at $3,200. We offer options for every budget and will work with you to find the perfect tribute within your means. We also offer payment plans for larger orders.
What's the difference between a monument and a marker?
A monument (or upright) is a vertical structure that stands above ground, typically 3-4 feet tall. A marker (or flat marker) lies flat with the ground and is usually flush with the lawn. Both serve the same purpose of honoring a loved one â the choice often depends on cemetery regulations, family preference, and budget. Markers are generally more affordable.
Do I need to contact the cemetery first?
Not necessarily. We'll handle the coordination with the cemetery on your behalf. However, if you already have a plot location and any cemetery-specific requirements, that information helps us design appropriately. Different cemeteries have different rules regarding size, materials, and foundation requirements â we'll handle all these details.
How long does the process take?
From initial consultation to installation, the typical timeline is 4-8 weeks. The design phase usually takes 1-2 weeks depending on revisions. Manufacturing takes 2-4 weeks. Cemetery coordination and installation add 1-2 weeks. Expedited options are available for families who need quicker turnaround.

Understanding Your Choices
What granite colors do you offer?
We offer over 20 granite varieties including: Gray (classic and most affordable), Pink (warm tones, very popular), Black (elegant and dramatic), Blue Pearl (rare with subtle blue sparkle), Red (rich and distinctive), and several exotic options. We recommend visiting our studio to see samples in person, as photos don't fully capture the beauty of natural stone.
Is polished or honed granite better?
Both finishes are excellent and have different aesthetic appeals. Polished granite has a glossy, reflective surface that brings out the stone's color and creates contrast for inscriptions. Honed granite has a matte finish that's softer and more traditional. Polished granite shows weathering more over time, while honed maintains a more consistent appearance longer.
Why choose bronze over granite?
Bronze offers unique advantages: it's three-dimensional, allowing for sculptures and relief work; it develops a natural patina over time that many find beautiful; it's highly repairable if damaged; and it creates a classic, timeless aesthetic. Bronze memorials typically cost more than granite but offer distinctive elegance that stands apart.
Can I include a photo on the memorial?
Yes! We offer several photo options. For granite, we can etch a photo using laser or sandblasting techniques. For bronze, we offer photo etching that creates a detailed, lasting image. Note that these are artistic representations, not high-resolution photos like you'd see on paper. The effect is dignified and lasting but has an artistic quality.
Veteran Services
Military Memorials
Do you handle VA documentation?
Yes! We handle all VA documentation for veteran markers. This includes completing required forms, ensuring the memorial meets VA specifications, and coordinating with VA officials. If your loved one served in the military, they may be eligible for a government-furnished marker. We can help you understand your options.
What military emblems do you offer?
We have access to official emblems for all branches of the U.S. military (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard), the National Guard, and various military organizations. We can also include specific service medals, division insignias, and custom military-related artwork.
Can I add a flag pole to the memorial?
Yes, we offer bronze flag holders that can be attached to monuments. The cemetery must allow flag display, as some cemeteries have restrictions. We can discuss placement options and any cemetery-specific requirements during your consultation.
